Retraction and Correction Policy

Retraction Policy

In cases where published work is found to contain significant inaccuracies, misleading information, ethical breaches, or other serious issues, the Science Mundi is committed to ensuring the integrity and credibility of the scientific record. Retraction of the published article may be considered under the following circumstances:

  • Evidence of data fabrication or falsification.
  • Plagiarism or redundant publication.
  • Serious ethical misconduct, including but not limited to unethical experimentation, inadequate consent, or conflicts of interest that were not disclosed.
  • Substantial errors or inaccuracies that affect the validity of the research or conclusions drawn.

The decision to retract an article is made by the editorial board in consultation with relevant experts and guided by established guidelines from bodies such as the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) among others. Authors will be given the opportunity to respond to allegations of misconduct before a final decision is made. NB* the journal sets out to subscribe to COPE in the near future.

Correction Policy

The Science Mundi recognizes that errors can occur despite rigorous peer review and editorial oversight. Corrections will be considered for errors that do not fundamentally affect the scientific conclusions of the article. Corrections may include:

  • Errata: Published notices correcting errors of fact, calculation, or interpretation.
  • Addenda: Additional information added to clarify or expand upon the original article.
  • Corrigenda: Formal corrections issued when errors significantly impact the article's scientific integrity.

Corrections are published promptly with appropriate acknowledgment of the nature of the error and any corrective action taken. Authors are expected to cooperate fully with the correction process and provide necessary revisions in a timely manner.
